TRUCK, FIRE FIGHTING, WATER TANKER, 4,000 GALLON
CAPACITY
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial
item description for all federal agencies.
1. SCOPE. This commercial item description (CID) covers a commercial water tanker truck. The
tanker has a 6x4 chassis with a diesel engine and an automatic transmission; a two person cab
with two doors; a 4,000 gallon water tank; a 1,250 gallon per minute (gpm) fire pump;
equipment compartments; and hose. The water tanker truck is intended to: store and transport
water over paved roads, gravel roads, or unimproved surfaces, and draft, pump, and transfer
water in support of brush, structural, and aircraft fire fighting vehicles.
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS. The tanker shall be in accordance with the applicable
requirements of the following chapters of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1901,
Standard for Automotive Fire Apparatus, Current Edition, for Mobile Water Supply Apparatus:
