COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
MOZZLE, FIRE HOSE, WATER (PLASTIC)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This description covers plastic nozzles capable of producing either a solid fog or a straight stream for fire-fighting purposes. The nozzles shall be available in the following classes:
Class A- 1-1/2 inch diameter X 9NH
Class B- 1-1/2 inch diameter X 11.5 NPSH
Salient characteristics.
Red polycarbonate body with a brass stem.
Shall be capable of three positions: shut-off, fog-spray, and straight stream.
Shall have a minimum flow of 60 gallons per minute at 100 psig in either straight stream or any fog position.
Shall be provided with rubber bumpers.
Shall be impervious to grease, oil, acids, and chemicals.
Shall be adjustable while in operating mode.
Proof pressure test. The nozzles shall be tested to 1000 psig in the shut-off position for five minutes. The nozzles shall then be examined for any distortion, mechanical damage, or leaks. Any evidence of failure shall be cause for rejection.
Workmanship. Nozzle shall be free of any defects which may affect the durability appearance, or serviceability.
Conformance. Nozzles shall be Factory Mutual (FM) approved.
Regulatory requirements. In accordance with section 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulations, the Government’s policy is to acquire items composed of the highest percentage of recovered materials practicable, consistent with maintaining a satisfactory level of competition without adversely affecting performance requirements or exposing supplier’s employees to undue hazards from the recovered materials.
Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking. The preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
