COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
EDUCTOR (BY-PASS & INLINE)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description by all federal agencies.
This description covers an eductor which proportions chemicals into water by
venturi action or by-passes and delivers plain water. Eductors shall be
furnished in the following styles. All sizes shown are in inches.

Salient characteristics
Eductor shall be calibrated to operate at a pressure of 200 psi.
The pick-up tube shall be made of clear plastic with a removable strainer.
The eductor bodsy shall be made of cast brass.
A calibrated metering valve providing for positive stops for 1-, 2-, 3-, and
6-percent foam setting shall be furnished.
Nozzle gallonage must match that of eductor used. If a nozzle has a selection
dial, it should be set at that GPM matching the listed rating of the eductor.
Eductor shall be provide with a ball check valve to prevent back-flow into
foam.
unless otherwise specified all threads shall be of the NH series.
Shall be provided with rocker lugs.
By-pass handle shall be parallel with the central axis of the outlet waterway.
Conformance testing.
Vacuum Test. Pick-up tube base shall withstand a
vacuum of 25 inches of mercury.
Dry Torque Test. (By-pass type only). The eductor shall be dry and
without hydrostatic pressure. A torque wrench shall be installed in place of
the by-pass handle and turned to its open and closed position. The peak torque
shall not exceed 150 pound-inches.
Hydrostatic Pressure Torque Test (By-pass type only) the eductor shall
be connected to a hydrostatic pressure source and 200 psi pressure applied. The
eductor discharge end shall be open. The torque wrench shall be turned to the
by-pass open and closed position. The peak torque shall not exceed 200
pound-inches.
Proof Pressure Test (both types). The eductor shall be connected to a
hydrostatic pressure source and a pressure of 500 psi applied. The eductor
