COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
HOSE ASSEMBLY, NONMETALIC
(BOOSTER)
The General Services Administration has authorized
the use of this commercial item description.
This description covers booster hoses, double braided, rubber covered, with coupling for both fire protection and general purposes and shall be furnished in the following classes and sizes, as specified:
Class I – 800 psi (working pressure)
Class II – 400 psi (working pressure)
Class III – 300 psi (working pressure)
Size A - 3/4 inch
Size B - 1 inch
Salient characteristic:
Hose length shall be 50-feet or 100-feet, as specified.
Configuration. The assembly shall consist of one male coupling, one female coupling, and one section of hose of specified length.
Hose. Consist of two multiple braids of synthetic yard with a synthetic rubber outer jacket.
Lining shall be non-porous smooth rubber. Color shall be red.
Coupling. One threaded male piece and one threaded female piece, spanner hole configuration. Coupling material shall be either brass hardcoated aluminum, unless otherwise specified. All threads shall be of the NH series, unless otherwise specified.
Conformance. Hose shall meet or exceed the requirements of the NFPA Standard 1961.
The issue of NFPA Standard 1961 in effect on the date of the solicitation shall be use to determine compliance with this requirement.
Workmanship. Rubber cover shall be free from unsightly defects, dirt, lumps, and irregularities as is consistent with good manufacturing practice. The waterway surface of the lining shall be free from pitting, corrugations, and other irregularities or imperfections. Hose shall be free of defects which may affect appearance or serviceability.
Regulatory requirements. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to utilize recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum extent practicable.
Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking (Civilian). The preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking (DoD). Military packaging shall be specified when shipments are to be overseas Department of Defense (DoD) consignees. Commercial packaging may be specified for shipments to DoD consignees within the Continental United States and to non-DoD consignees worldwide. When a suppliers normal packaging will satisfy the requirements for military packaging, it may be used.
