EXTINGUISHER, FIRE, VAPORIZING LIQUID
(HEAT-ACTUATED, HALON 1301)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers heat-actuated Halon 1301 fire extinguishers for use in small, confined areas, i.e., bank vaults, marine compartments, etc. The following types are available, as specified:

Salientcharacteristics.
Charge. Mobromonotrifluoromethane (Halon1301).
Cylinder. Tempered aluminum, baked epoxy finish, disposable, per Department of Transportation Specification 39.
Brackets. Stainless steel or combination of aluminum and stainless steel.
Indicator Lamp. A visual charge/discharge indicator lamp for mounting shall be provided.
Pressure Gauge. Provided if specified.
Conformance. The extinguisher shall be Factory Mutual and US Coast Guard approved.
Workmanship. The extinguishers shall be free of defects which may affect the durability, appearance, or serviceability.
Regulatory reqirements. In accordance with section 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulations, the Government’s policy is to acquire items composed of the highest percentage of recovered materials practicable, consistent with maintaining a satisfactory level of competition without adversely affecting
performance requirements or exposing supplier’s employees to undue hazards from the recovered materials.
