COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
EXTINGUISHER, FIRE, WATER (HAND-PUMP)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description in preference to Federal Specification O-E-940, type I.
This description covers a 2-1/2 gallon, hand-pump, portable, water-type fire extinguisher for use against class A fires only.
Salient characteristics:
Charge. Water
Material. Stainless steel sheel
Marking. The extinguisher shall be marked with the proper “Shape-Symbol” Code.
Underwriters Laboratories Classification. 2A
Limitations. Use only in heated areas (above 32oF). Do not add anti-freeze
Underwriters Laboratories Requirements. All extinguishers shall meet the requirements of UL Tentative Test Guide, Subject 7. Extinguishers shall be capable of extinguishing appropriate test fires as detailed in UL 711.
The issues of UL requirements in effect on the date of the solicitation shall be used to determine compliance with these requirements.
Regulatory requirements. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum extent practicable.
Preservation, Packaging, Packaging, Labeling, and Marking. The preservation, packaging, packing, labeling and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
